Explore for 11 days the rivers and secret lakes with restricted access in the Spanish Pyrenees.

The Spanish Pyrenees are Europe’s best-kept secret for fly fishing. This trip for teenagers takes place in the most remote and hidden waters of the Ordesa, Aigüestortes, Posets-Maladeta, and High Pyrenees National Parks. You will have the opportunity to fish for brown trout, char, and the enigmatic zebra trout in areas with virtually no fishing pressure.

Thanks to our exclusive permits for access to restricted vehicle paths, we will get closer to these destinations, which we will then explore on foot. Most fishing spots will be reached on foot, allowing you to enjoy epic and unforgettable fishing days. Fishing will primarily be done with dry flies.

ITINERARY

Start: Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN).

Objective of the day: Transfer from Barcelona to our operations center.

Destination: Hotel Cases en La Guingueta d’Àneu (Alt Pirineu Natural Park).

Welcome to Spain! We will personally greet each teenager upon their arrival at the airport, and this afternoon at 4:00 PM, we will depart in a spacious van taxi to Hotel Cases, located in La Guingueta d’Àneu, next to the Alt Pirineu Natural Park. The journey will take approximately three hours.

Once we arrive at Hotel Cases, we will check into our rooms and introduce ourselves, as well as provide an overview of the trip we are about to embark on. Afterward, we will enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant, followed by some time to prepare backpacks and materials for the next day, as well as to use their phones to communicate with their families.

Schedule:

Arrival: Welcome to Spain! Personal greeting for each teenager upon their arrival at Barcelona Airport. If the minor is traveling alone, the airline provides an unaccompanied minor (UM) service, where the airline staff is responsible for their well-being during the flight and until arrival. Upon reaching the destination, the airline will hand over the minor to the camp's designated responsible person, who must verify their identity to receive the child.
4:00 PM: Departure. We will travel in a comfortable van to Hotel Cases in La Guingueta d'Àneu. The journey will take approximately three hours.
7:00 PM: Arrival at Hotel Cases. Room assignments and an introduction to the trip, as well as meeting the monitors.
8:30 PM: Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
9:00 PM: We will prepare our backpacks and equipment for the first day of fishing.
10:00 PM - 10:30 PM: Free time to use mobile phones and call family.

Start: Hotel Cases en La Guingueta d’Àneu (Alt Pirineu Natural Park).

Objective for both days: fishing for brook trout in lakes and a river located in a private area of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park. Access via a 4×4 taxi and subsequent excursion.

End: Hotel Cases en La Guingueta d’Àneu (Alt Pirineu Natural Park).

On the second and third days of this expedition, which spans the National Parks of the Pyrenees from east to west, we will explore rivers and lakes located at over 7,800 feet in altitude, where we will find incredible populations of brook trout that aggressively strike our dry flies.

To access this remote location, we will hire a 4×4 taxi that will take us along a restricted forest road to the first lake. From there, we will embark on a 1.5-hour hike to reach a lake with a high density of brook trout. All of this will be set in an amazing alpine environment, where we may see chamois, golden eagles, and even some traces of brown bears.

On the first day, we will fish in the alpine lakes, practicing sight fishing, while the second day will be dedicated to fishing in the river. We will spend the night at the hotel, so we will use the taxi each day to reach the fishing areas.

9:00 AM: Arrive by 4x4 taxi at the starting point of the hike and begin walking.

Start: Hotel Cases en La Guingueta d’Àneu (Alt Pirineu Natural Park).

Daily Objective: Change of base of operations and fishing in two different rivers of the Aigüestortes National Park.

End: Hostal Noray in Barruera, located in the Vall de Boí, a valley known for its Romanesque churches, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The fourth day of fishing will start early, ensuring our bags are packed before breakfast at Hotel Cases.

After breakfast, we will head to the Arán Valley, where we’ll fish in a small mountain river near the National Park. Around midday, we’ll take a break for lunch. Later, we’ll make our way to Barruera, our second base of operations for an afternoon of fishing.

In Barruera, we’ll enjoy a session at the intensive fishing reserve, known for its abundance of sizable brown and zebra trout. At the end of the day, we’ll have dinner and stay overnight at Hostal Noray to rest.

The day begins early at 6 a.m. at the Noray Hostel. After a hearty breakfast, we take a 45-minute transfer by car to Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.

Once there, we start a hike along a beautiful trail that follows a mountain stream. Our destination is a series of alpine lakes known for their abundant populations of brown trout and char. In our backpacks, we carry food and dinner, as well as breakfast and lunch for days 5 and 6. We also have sleeping bags and mats for the night.

We’ll spend the day fishing and enjoying nature. As evening falls, we’ll stay overnight in a small mountain refuge. It promises to be a unique experience, surrounded by marmots, bearded vultures, chamois, and other wildlife.

We will wake up in the shelter located by the lake, where we will start the day with breakfast. Afterwards, we will go fishing again in the alpine lakes near our resting area. In the late morning, we will begin a hike towards the starting point and will stop to fish in the mountain stream that runs parallel to the trail.

This stream is known for its abundant population of zebra trout, making it a very enjoyable spot for dry fly fishing. At noon, we will take a break to have lunch by the river and continue fishing until mid-afternoon.

After that, we will descend to the starting point of day five, where our vehicle will be parked.

Finally, we will transfer to the Noray hostel, where we will have dinner and rest, preparing for the next day.

This will be a day of rest, during which the guide will meet with the group to discuss and agree on various activity options. We can enjoy a relaxing day by the pool, followed by a brief fishing session near the village.

We will also have the opportunity to visit the Romanesque churches in the valley, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and explore the Wildlife Recovery and Fish Farming Center, where we will receive a guided tour and learn about the life cycle of the native Mediterranean trout.

It will be a peaceful day to recharge, with full board accommodation at Hostal Noray. There will be no need to wake up early.

Start: Noray Hostel in Barruera (Aigüestortes National Park).

Daily Objective: Brook trout fishing in the river at one of the most beautiful spots in the Pyrenees, in the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. After lunch, we will engage in community service activities, followed by an afternoon transfer to Ordesa National Park.

End: Bujaruelo Refuge – Hotel (Ordesa National Park).

On day 8, we will leave the Noray hostel and head to the heart of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, about 1 hour and 15 minutes away. We will take a 40-minute hike to a river at the foot of Pico Aneto, where we’ll have the chance to fish in a stunning setting. We’ll access this remote area via a forest track restricted to our group.

After fishing, we’ll enjoy an outdoor lunch. In the afternoon, we will collaborate with the park staff on community service tasks such as zebra trout censuses, river cleanups, and improvements in spawning areas. Afterward, we will drive for over 2 hours to the Bujaruelo refuge, where we’ll spend the night. This refuge will serve as our base for the last days of the trip, offering a cozy place to relax and share the day’s experiences.

From the Bujaruelo refuge, and thanks to our special permit to access the restricted track leading into the valley to the source of the Ara River, we will enjoy two days of fishing in this beautiful valley, home to the wildest and most famous river in the Pyrenees. This permit is only granted to the shepherds and guides who live in the valley, like us.

The valley is located in the peripheral zone of the Ordesa National Park. After breakfast, we will drive for 30 minutes to the bottom of the valley, at over 2,300 meters above sea level.

We will travel along a restricted-access track that tourists and other companies cannot use.

Once we arrive, we will take a hike that will last approximately one hour each way to the source of the river, where we can fish in a stunningly beautiful and pressure-free area. Here, you will have the opportunity to catch wild zebra trout that have hardly ever seen a dry fly.

During the hike, we will enjoy a picnic sandwich by the river. The fishing experience is truly spectacular.

Start: Noray Hostel in Barruera (Aigüestortes National Park).

Daily Objective: Fishing for brook trout in the river and visiting the most beautiful place in the Pyrenees, in the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, followed by a transfer to Ordesa National Park in the afternoon.

End: Bujaruelo Refuge – Hotel (Ordesa National Park).

On day 8, we will depart from the Noray hostel and head into the heart of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, a journey of approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. This impressive granite-origin park is renowned for its natural beauty and diverse landscapes.

We will embark on a hike toward a river nestled at the foot of Pico Aneto, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees. In this magical setting, we’ll have the chance to fish in a turquoise river, surrounded by glaciers and majestic mountains. The area is famous for its abundant population of char.

The hike to the river will take about 40 minutes from where we park.

Before starting the hike, we’ll follow a section of a restricted forest track, accessible only to our company, allowing us privileged access to this remote area.

While at the river, we’ll take some time to enjoy an outdoor lunch, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. In the mid-afternoon, we will return to the vehicle and drive for over 2 hours to the Bujaruelo refuge, where we’ll spend the night.

This refuge will serve as our base for the final days of the trip, offering a cozy setting to relax and share the day’s experiences.

Accommodation and Meals: The teenagers will stay in three different operation centers: Hotel Cases in La Guingueta d'Aneu, Hostal Noray in Baruera, and the Bujaruelo Hotel-Refuge. Four meals will be provided daily: breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. The main meals will be served in the restaurant, except on excursion days when sandwiches will be provided.
Comfortable Accommodation: Accommodations include sheets, blankets, towels, and bathrooms. In some locations, the rooms will be shared by two people. Each room is cleaned daily and has a private bathroom. One night will be spent in an unguarded mountain refuge, for which a sleeping bag and mat will be necessary.
Qualified Staff: There will be one certified fishing guide for every four children, available 24/7 to supervise activities. Additionally, a coordinator will be in charge of logistics and support as needed.
Fishing Permits: Daily fishing permits and fishing licenses will be provided.
Fishing Equipment: All necessary equipment for fishing and other activities is included. It is recommended that children bring their own gear if they wish. Flies will also be provided.
Support Vehicle: A support vehicle will be available for transportation to fishing areas.
24/7 Assistance: An emergency phone will be available 24/7 for any needs (as long as there is coverage).
Medical Care: Nearby towns have a medical office to address any emergencies.
Special Diets: Meals adapted for individuals with celiac disease and food intolerances will be offered.
Transfers: Transfer service will be provided on the day of arrival and departure to Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN).
Insurance: Accident insurance is included for guided fishing activities, as well as liability insurance. It is important to note that this insurance only covers guided fishing activities, so the teenager will need to arrange travel insurance. The company is legally registered as a travel agency and active tourism provider.

Cancellation insurance: In some cases, such as when a trip must be canceled due to illness, if the deadline specified in the trip details has passed and the appropriate insurance is not in place, the amount specified in the cancellation policy will be forfeited.

Information for participants from outside the EU:

A valid passport with a visa is required to stay in the European Union for the duration of the expedition.
Participants must also have travel health insurance that covers any illness that may occur during the expedition. Accident and liability insurance is included exclusively for the guided river fishing activity for all participants, regardless of whether they are from the EU or from outside the EU.

Cancellation Policy:

For trips canceled less than 90 days before the arrival date, 100% of the reservation amount, corresponding to the total cost of the trip, will be forfeited unless a substitute is found. In the case of cancellations made more than 90 days in advance, 50% of the reservation, which is equivalent to 50% of the total cost of the trip, will be lost if the traveler cannot be replaced. The remaining 50%, if already paid, will be refunded or can be applied to future trips.

Is this fly fishing camp designed for groups of friends who already know each other or for children attending individually?

In general, our expeditions are made up of teens from different countries who participate individually. However, there are exceptions, as some groups of friends who share a passion for fishing choose to experience this adventure together.

If you decide to come alone, as most teens do, you’ll have the opportunity to join other anglers who speak both English and Spanish and share your love for fly fishing. Additionally, this environment will allow you to make new friends and learn from the experiences of others.

On our website, you can check the available groups, dates, and open spots so you can select the option that best fits your interests. We look forward to sharing an unforgettable adventure with you in Spain!

Is prior fly fishing experience required to participate in the expeditions?

Yes, previous experience in fly fishing and mid-range casting skills are required to join the expedition. Although expertise isn’t necessary, basic casting abilities and knowledge of fly fishing techniques are recommended, as they will enhance your experience and allow you to fully enjoy the activity.

Are girls also welcome on these expeditions?

At our international fly fishing expeditions in the Spanish Pyrenees, we want to make it clear that girls are more than welcome. We promote an inclusive and diverse environment where all young people, regardless of gender, can enjoy nature, learn fly fishing skills, and share unforgettable experiences.

To ensure that every participant feels comfortable and well-cared-for, we provide separate accommodations for girls and boys, guaranteeing privacy and well-being.

We strongly believe that fly fishing is an activity for everyone, and we are committed to encouraging young girls to explore their passion for this wonderful sport.

How do we ensure personalized attention and safety on our fly fishing expeditions?

Our expeditions stand out for offering personalized attention, with a ratio of 4 teens per fly fishing guide, and transportation in dedicated vehicles. This allows each participant to receive the support they need to improve their fly fishing skills, fostering a safe environment.

Each expedition is organized into units composed of a monitor–fly fishing guide and four participants. While participants will interact with other groups, each team of four will enjoy guided sessions and personalized instruction.

Besides the price indicated on the website, are there additional costs I should be aware of?

The registration fee covers all meals, accommodations, transportation, fishing gear, and any needs that may arise from our departure from Barcelona until our return. This is an all-inclusive expedition with no surprises. In the “NEED TO KNOW” section, you will find a detailed breakdown of what is included, what is not, and other important information to consider.

Where will we stay during the trip?

During this expedition, participants will enjoy four different accommodations, each offering comfort and a close connection to nature, for a complete fly-fishing and mountain experience.

We’ll start at Hotel Cases in La Guingueta d’Àneu, a picturesque village nestled in a valley by the La Torrassa reservoir, next to the Alt Pirineu Natural Park. This peaceful village offers basic services such as a small shop and cafés.

Participants can relax in this welcoming hotel with cozy rooms and enjoy traditional Catalan meals at its restaurant.

The second accommodation will be at Hostal Noray in Barruera, a charming village along the Noguera de Tor River near the Aiguastortes National Park. This family-friendly hostel has comfortable rooms with full bathrooms, offering a great place to rest. Participants will enjoy homemade meals in the dining room and shared spaces like the café-bar and lounge. With its hiking trails and natural beauty, Barruera is part of the Natura 2000 Network, making it ideal for outdoor activities.

For the third night, participants will stay at an unguarded mountain refuge by the Anglios lakes, an isolated and spectacular natural setting. This provides a unique experience in the wilderness, where teens can enjoy a night under the stars, surrounded by high-altitude lakes and stunning Pyrenean landscapes. This refuge has no services, so participants will need basic mountain equipment to spend the night comfortably.

Finally, for the last stage of the expedition, we’ll stay at the Refugio de Bujaruelo, a rustic mountain lodge close to the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. This refuge offers an authentic mountain experience, with shared rooms, bunks, common bathrooms, and a cozy area for meals. The natural setting allows for trail exploration, wildlife observation, and the serenity of the Pyrenees.

These four accommodations have been carefully chosen to provide a safe, enriching, and varied experience, combining comfort with the adventure of a night in the wilderness. Each stage will allow participants to immerse themselves fully in mountain life, balancing cozy lodging with outdoor adventure.

Do you offer fishing equipment rental services?

Yes, we offer rental services for waders, boots, rods, and reels. This service is included in the price at no additional cost, although we recommend that participants bring their own equipment if they prefer.

What types of flies should I use for fishing?

We will send you a PDF document with recommendations for dry flies, nymphs, and streamers suitable for this expedition. Additionally, we’ll prepare a selection of flies for you to use during the trip with other young anglers.

Will I have mobile signal and Wi-Fi access during the trip to communicate with my family?

Yes, three of the accommodations during the expedition (Hotel Cases in La Guingueta d’Àneu, Hostal Noray in Barruera, and Refugio de Bujaruelo) have mobile signal and Wi-Fi access, allowing communication with family. However, at the unguarded Anglios refuge, which is in a remote mountain area, there will be no mobile signal or internet access. During this time, the monitor will carry a mobile phone for emergencies and access to emergency contacts if necessary.

If the expedition is canceled, will I receive a refund for my reservation?

For cancellations made less than 90 days in advance, 100% of the reservation will be forfeited, equivalent to the total cost of the trip (unless a substitute is found). If the cancellation occurs more than 90 days in advance, 50% of the reservation will be forfeited, or 50% of the total cost, unless a replacement is found. The remaining 50% will be refunded or can be applied to future expeditions.

Are there any discounts available?

We offer a 10% discount for groups of friends who book four spots together.

How can I make the payment?

Generally, payment should be made via bank transfer to our account or through a virtual payment gateway as follows:

Reservation confirmation: 50% deposit upon confirming the reservation.
Remaining 50%: BEFORE 60 days prior to the start of the trip.
